Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They help the website remember things about your visit — like which pages you looked at — and make the experience better over time.
Some cookies are essential for a website to work. Others are optional and help the website owner understand how the site is being used.
We use two analytics services on our website. Neither identifies you personally.
| Cookie / Service | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) |
Understand which pages visitors view, how long they stay, and how they found us. Helps us improve the website. | Up to 2 years | Google LLC (USA) |
| Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk, CLID, MUID) |
Session recordings and heatmaps showing how visitors interact with pages (mouse movements, scrolls, clicks). Helps us identify confusing layouts or broken elements. | Up to 1 year | Microsoft Corporation (USA) |
Both services collect anonymised or pseudonymised data. We do not send personally identifiable information to either service. We use these tools to understand aggregate behaviour — "most visitors scroll to the pricing section" — not to track individual people.
We do not use:
We don't show ads on our website, and we don't share visitor data with advertisers.
Our follow-up emails include a tiny invisible image (a 1×1 pixel tracking pixel). When the recipient opens the email and their email program loads images, our server records:
This is not a cookie — it does not place anything on the recipient's device. It is a standard technique used by most email platforms to measure engagement.
Why we do this: Our clients (trade businesses) want to know whether their follow-up messages are being seen. Open data helps us understand which messages are effective and which ones aren't landing.
Limitations: Email open tracking is not perfectly reliable. Some email systems (including Apple Mail's Mail Privacy Protection and some versions of Microsoft Outlook) pre-load or block images, which means opens may not be detected. We present open data as directional insight, not definitive measurement.
Opting out: If you receive a follow-up email from Not Forgotten on behalf of a trade business and prefer not to be tracked, you can disable automatic image loading in your email program. You can also reply "unsubscribe" to stop receiving emails entirely, or contact us at james@notforgotten.com.au.
